Mastitis can be a fatal, yet common ailment in cows. It is caused by an infection occouring in the udders. This condition can be tested through the California Mastisis Testing System or (CMT), which is a simple indicator of the somatic cell count present in the milk sample. The test paddle can be used to check for the condition. Milk has to be expressed, from each quarter into each of the segments of the paddle, about 2ml, and then the results are provided. The test solution must be added to the paddle seperately.
