Product Details

Efco/Flynn Diaphragm is designed for use in a milk pump

Vacuum milk pumps used in the dairy sector are usually Diaphragm Pumps. These diaphragm pumps are positive displacements pumps. A rubber membrane moves up and down within the pump body. This compresses and exhausts the area fed by the inlet. Inlet and exit check valves are actuated by the pressure difference. In a dairy pump, when the air pressure is removed it allows the milk to flow in, and when the air is compressed, it forces the milk out the exit pipe.

Most modern diaphragm vacuum pumps are relatively maintenance free up to about 10,000 hours of use. The parts of the vacuum diaphragm pump that take the most wear are the rubber membranes. Usually, the operator observes a drop in the ultimate pressure, as the membrane becomes worn. A straight swap of the old diaphragm for a new one will have the pump operating as usual. Low cost and easy to fit, these diaphragms require no special tools or skills and are quick and easy to fit.
