VETSCRUB is an antimicrobial preparation for pre-operative surgical disinfection, antiseptic handwashing and pre-operative and post-operative skin antisepsis for animals undergoing surgery.
VETSCRUB is contraindicated for patients who have previously shown a hypersensitivity reaction to chlorhexidine. However, such reactions are extremely rare.
ACTION:
VETSCRUB is bactericidal on contact. It has antiseptic activity and a persistent antimicrobial effect with rapid bactericidal activity against a wide range of micro organisms, including gram-positive bacteria and gram-negative bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Direct action towards bacteria gram +, gram -, EN 12791 EN 12054, EN1040). The effectiveness of VETSCRUB is not significantly reduced by the presence of organic matter, such as blood.
Chlorhexidine gluconate is a unique agent that closely fits the definition of an ideal antimicrobial agent, hav¬ing (among others) one of the most important characteristics of persistent activity. This persistence is due to chlorhexidine gluconate binding to the protein of the skin and, thus, being available for residual activity over a relatively long period of time
