The Milk Stop Bolus is specifically formulated to assist high-yielding dairy cows during the critical dry-off period. This stage of the lactation cycle presents significant metabolic, inflammatory, and immune challenges, particularly for cows that continue to produce large quantities of milk at dry-off. These cows are at higher risk for intramammary pressure build-up, which can lead to a cascade of udder health issues if not properly managed.

In cows that maintain high milk production at the point of dry-off, the accumulation of milk in the mammary glands leads to increased intra-mammary pressure. This can trigger milk leakage, which compromises the integrity of the teat sphincter and predisposes the cow to bacterial invasion. The resulting disruption to the mammary gland' homeostasis can increase the risk of clinical or subclinical mastitis, particularly in the early dry period when the cow' immune response may be suppressed.

The Milk Stop Bolus acts through Advanced Matrix Bolus Technology, facilitating a rapid reduction in milk production. The bolus disrupts the lactogenic signals within the mammary tissue, which leads to a physiological reduction in prolactin activity, thereby reducing the synthesis and secretion of milk. This rapid cessation of milk production helps to alleviate intra-mammary pressure and supports the closure of the teat canal, protecting against bacterial entry.
